Do you have children aged 0-3?
Would you like more confidence when cooking?
Do you want some ideas to encourage your family to eat healthy foods?
How about some time and space to think about food shopping and how to eat healthily on a budget?
Cooking for a Better Start is for all parents and carers in the Better Start Bradford area who want to learn how to cook low-cost, healthy meals for their family. Groups meet every week for six weeks to try out a range of straightforward recipes. Dads, mums, grandparents, aunts and uncles are all welcome.
The relaxed and friendly two-hour sessions are led by an experienced member of the HENRY team in local community venues. Everything you need is provided, including ingredients and cooking equipment. A free creche is also provided.
By the end of the course you’ll have cooked at least six healthy, low-cost meals from scratch, taking them home to enjoy. You will also learn about portion sizes, reading food labels and packaging and much more. You’ll leave with lots of new knowledge and skills, a certificate to celebrate your achievements, healthy recipes, new friends, and confidence to carry on yourself at home.
These classes are for families with children aged 0-3 living in the Better Start Bradford area
I always use my measuring spoons to measure the recommended levels of oil when cooking and use a lot of the recipes covered in the course. We also now have a lot more vegetables with our meals and I regularly make the yummy healthy muffin pizzas!
I have found it very useful in getting me out of the house. It is nice meeting others and it is a friendly environment.
