Hello. My name is Shummel Uddin and I am the Community Engagement Manager here at Better Start Bradford. My passion lies in helping others to fulfil their potential and creating change for the better.

Previously I was the Community Project Officer at the Neighbourhood Resource Centre (NRC), and a Better Start Bradford Community Board Member.

I am a graduate in sports journalism and run my own grassroots football club in BD3. I am also the head football coach at the Bradford City Development Centre.

I am really looking forward to doing my best to influence positive engagement with the Better Start Bradford community.

My name is Sofia and I’m a Family and Community Engagement Worker at Better Start Bradford.

I’ve most recently been a Neighbourhood Engagement Support Worker based at the West Bowling Community Advice & Training Centre, supporting families in the Canterbury area of Bradford.

I am enthusiastic and I’ve always had a passion for helping others and raising awareness to give children the best start in life. I am fluent in Urdu and Punjabi.

I have experience of working in schools and with communities and I am delighted to be part of Better Start Bradford and all the amazing projects that make a difference and support families from pregnancy to three years.

My name is Arian and I am one of the Family and Community Engagement Workers at Better Start Bradford.

I was previously one of the Neighbourhood Engagement Workers based at the West Bowling Community Advice & Training Centre, supporting refugee and asylum seeker families.

I am an enthusiastic, positive and friendly person my previous experience is working with community centres, children’s centres and schools.

I work on the Neighbourhood Engagement Project and I have worked in the Better Start Bradford area for over 15 years.

I have a keen passion for supporting families and young children to have a fulfilling life. I set up activities based on family-centred approaches and cover the BD3 area of Bradford.

My role also enables me to get out into the community to meet and engage with new people, helping them discover new things about themselves and their families and the brilliant services that are available to them.

This role is a dream job for me as I love supporting parents and children into the Better Start Bradford projects. I know how such work can change lives – being a parent myself, it gives me joy to know I can point parents in the right direction just as I was some 15 years ago.

I bring great energy, compassion, and empathy to the work I do with families and the wider community that I serve. I am also a qualified personal trainer and nutritionist with a strong interest in family health and wellbeing.

I am a Neighbourhood Engagement Worker based at the West Bowling Community Advice & Training Centre. As I am a BD5 parent myself, my passion is to support families with the young children and get the whole BD5 Neighbourhood involved with Better Start Bradford projects.

I worked in children’s centre settings for over five years, so I am excited to introduce local families in the unique Better Start Bradford programmes and spread their important messages, to let parents and carers know about the support available and to help improve children’s outcomes. I also speak in Russian and Latvian.

As I am passionate about early years and environmental outdoor education, together with Bowling Park Allotments and HEY! Fund funding we have organised an allotment play group, where we are learning how to grow our own food, care about the nature and explore new ways of playing outdoors.
