Better Place launches the Better Place Outdoor Project Fund
21 March 2023
The first day of spring sees the launch of the Better Place Outdoor Project Fund. The fund is open to community groups and small organisations to apply for up to £500 to develop outdoor projects.
The projects must take place at an outdoor space that has been developed by the Better Place project and must benefit expectant parents and/or families with 0-3s and help them to:
- use and enjoy Better Place outside spaces in all seasons.
- develop pride and community ownership of Better Place outside spaces.
- take part in fun outdoor activities using Better Place outside spaces.
- improve mental health and well-being using Better Place outside spaces.
Since 2018, the Better Place Bradford team have been working with the local community in the Better Start Bradford area Bowling and Barkerend, Bradford Moor and Little Horton, to improve outdoor spaces for families with young children across parks, pocket parks, community centres, streets and green spaces.
Adele Adams CMLI, Project Manager, Better Place said:
Better Place have been building beautiful new outdoor spaces for families with little ones across the Better Start Bradford area and we would like the community to feel like these spaces are theirs to enjoy. Better Place have set up the Better Place Outdoor Fund to help support community organisations to develop creative ideas on how these outdoor spaces can be used in addition to existing Better Place organised sessions. The fund is really flexible just so long as groups can develop activities that encourage expectant parents and families with little ones to spend time outdoors at the Better Place sites. If you have a ‘seed’ of an idea – let us help you plant it and support you to grow it.
There is a total of £10,000 available until summer 2024. Groups can apply for a minimum of £100 and a maximum of £500 to be spent within a one-year period of receiving funding. There are no application deadlines, but all projects must have spent their funds by October 2024.
Before you apply, you are welcome to have a chat about your project idea with our Senior Community Engagement Officer, Haleema Khatoon, on 07506 864878 or email [email protected]
