Free children’s books in the post every month from birth to their fifth birthday
What is Better Start Imagine?
Better Start Imagine gifts beautiful books to children from birth to their fifth birthday. Please note that last books will arrive by 30 September 2024.
The book-gifting is complemented by weekly story and rhyme time sessions and other activities held in local community venues. This project is part of the world-renowned Dolly Parton Imagination Library.
What difference does Better Start Imagine make?
Access to books and being read to in early childhood can impact a child’s development hugely. Without solid foundations in language and communication skills, children run the risk of school failure, low self-esteem and poor social skills.
Better Start Imagine therefore aims to increase:
- Levels of communication and language skills
- Levels of school-readiness
- Levels of book ownership and library use
- Involvement of parents in sharing books with their children
- Confidence of parents in sharing books with their children
Who can take part in Better Start Imagine?
Families in the Better Start Bradford area with children aged 0-4.
My son enjoys the storytelling session a lot and we always look forward to it. It helped with his speech development and his interest in books. A BIG thank you.
