Little Farmers

February 2022

Funded through the Happy Early Years (HEY!) Fund, Little Farmers was centred around farm animals, crafts, dancing, messy play, rhymes, singing, reading stories, imaginative play and much more.

Families with 0-4s also had trips out to local farms where children could interact with real animals, giving them a new sensory experience and the opportunity to interact, feed and build their confidence with animals.

Little Farmers was led by mum of two, Zeynep Iciger aged 27

“I got involved with Better Start Bradford because I attended sessions as a parent and participated in their Forest School training sessions. I became a volunteer with the Better Place project for a short time and I am now looking to set up my own Forest School.

“Before Better Start Bradford, I found it challenging finding activities to do with my children. Better Start Bradford opened up doors to access many different fun and engaging activities.

“I applied to the HEY! Fund because it’s a positive way of giving back to the community and interacting with different people and learning new cultures. The experience has helped my personal development in organising and managing things, as well as in having more confidence.

“As well as wanting to set up my own Forest School, I want Little Farmers to continue with mainly outdoors activities and I’m currently looking for alternative funding to sustain the group.

“It has been so wonderful building the families’ confidence with their peers and a range of animals and giving the children new experiences and opportunities they might not have for multiple reasons”
