Tier 1 Trauma-informed Practice (Online)
Free half-day training course
For workforce and volunteers
Wednesday 28 February 2024
10.00am - 1.30pm
Online via Zoom
Join colleagues from across Bradford for a free half-day training course about Adversity, Trauma, Resilience and Trauma-informed Practice.
Adverse Childhood Experiences affect many people living and working in Bradford. As well as the suffering these cause, they can also increase the risk of later life inequalities and negative outcomes. But with a Trauma-informed approach we can be better-placed to support people who have experienced these, as well as preventing more of them from ever happening.
This comprehensive introduction to Adversity, Trauma, Resilience (ATR) and how to address these via Trauma-informed approaches, will be delivered by the ATR Workforce Development Project team as part of the wider Bradford ATR Programme.
The session will cover:
- Adversity: what childhood and adult adversities are, and their impact
- Trauma: recognising trauma and learning how to respond to foster positive outcomes
- Resilience: how to help build resilience and how it can help a person heal
- Trauma-informed Practice: principles, framework and the fundamentals of how to apply these within the context of your work.
In line with our partners across the West Yorkshire ATR Programme, this course follows the Scottish National Trauma Training Programme’s Trauma Informed Framework.
This session will be interactive, with group and in-room exercises, as well as time to ask questions.
Following this training, you will receive a CPD certificate once you have completed the project’s evaluation form, as well as access to other resources and materials.
We appreciate that some topics covered within this training may be upsetting or unsettling for participants, especially those who have experienced adversity or trauma themselves.
Better Start Bradford, Bradford Trident and WAVE Trust are delivering Trauma-informed training, ATR materials, and restorative services (such as supervision and peer support) across the Bradford district between 2022-2025. This collaboration is part of the Bradford ATR programme and has been funded by Public Health.
