Each two-hour creative writing workshop, is an opportunity to exchange stories of birth and breastfeeding experiences, and using prompts and examples produce a short piece of writing that can offer a fresh understanding of your journey. This is a child-friendly venue and activity.

You will be working with Rachel New, a writer and radio producer for Creative Lives On Air – a dynamic partnership with BBC local radio to promote creativity and benefits it can bring. you can listen here to mothers from previous projects.

Please note, this event is not organised by Better Start Bradford. If you have any questions about the event – or would like to check it is still running before attending – please contact the organiser directly.

This project is part of the Holding Time project, an Arts Council Funded initiative using arts interventions for women and children as a driver of health, wellbeing and resilience.

Holding Time is both a celebration of breastfeeding and an exploration of the challenges mothers experience in establishing and maintaining breastfeeding. These issues may be physical, mental, environmental or cultural barriers. Working collaboratively with local mothers, we aim to celebrate the diversity of breastfeeding whilst overturning stereotypes, challenging assumptions and encouraging greater understanding and awareness in the whole community about the value of breastfeeding and its benefits.
