Bowling Festival of Trees: Bowling Wassail
Gather for an ancient celebration of trees
For families in the Better Start Bradford area

Meet at Bowling Community Orchard, Bowling Parks Drive, BD4 7ET
Cecil Green Arts and Better Place present an evening of lights in the park. From 5pm there will be a mini lantern parade with storytelling and from 7pm, Fruitworks and Better Place present Bowling Wassail.
From 5pm – Mini Lantern Parade for 0-5s
Gather at Bowling Park Lodge, Bradford at 5pm for a mini lantern parade in the woods, following the Goldilocks trail. Discover the magical wonder of the park at night, lighting up the darkness and telling an ancient story to welcome the coming of Spring.
There will be:
- Hot chocolate
- Music
- Storytelling
- Singing
- Puppetry
- Fire Juggling
The procession will return to Bowling Park Lodge for 6pm.
From 7pm – Bowling Wassail
Meet at Bowling Community Orchard, Bowling Parks Drive, BD4 7ET for Better Place and Fruitworks Bowling Festival of Trees Bowling Wassail.
In the depth of the dark winter, you will gather for an ancient celebration of trees. In the old tradition of England you will gather at the entrance of Bowling Park Allotments and be led by the Wassail King to the Jupiter apple tree at the Community Orchard for warm juice, an Imbolc story, songs, blessing of the trees, waking of the spirits.
Please bring a torch to see your way and then light the trees.
