HENRY Healthy Families is an eight-week course for parents with babies and children under five. It aims to help develop healthy lifestyle habits including food, activity, and families’ daily routines. It is provided in small groups of up to 12 parents in local community and children’s centres.

HENRY courses have been shown to be highly effective in helping families with young children to live healthy lifestyles. Many parents describe it as life-changing.

Who’s it for? Parents with babies and toddlers under five years old in the Better Start Bradford area.

Who delivers it? Local children’s centres and other partners in the Better Start Bradford area. HENRY is a national charity working in partnership with us to provide this and other activities to support a healthy start in life.

Each week helps you provide a healthy, happy, supportive environment for the whole family:

  • Decide what changes you want to make and set your own goals
  • How to juggle life with young children so you all get what you need
  • How to respond to children’s needs without giving in to all their demands
  • Positive mealtime tips for a happy family – reducing mealtime stress for everyone
  • Ideas for active play to help children learn, develop and stay happy
  • Food groups, food labels, portion sizes for under fives, first foods and snack swaps
  • Understanding and managing your child’s behaviour for a happier home
  • Celebrate your success as a parent and plan the future for your family
