Better Place secures funding for habitat ‘stepping stones’

13 June 2024

The Better Place team have been successful in securing £500 from the Morley Glass GreenVision Fund towards their Nature Nurture project.

Thanks to the funding Better Place will work with local families to build habitat boxes. The boxes will be installed at outdoor sites and will act as ‘stepping stones’ for wildlife across the Better Start Bradford area of Bowling and Barkerend, Bradford Moor and Little Horton.

Adele Adams, Project Manager, Better Place, said:

We are looking forward to working with families with young children in Bradford to create habitat ‘stepping stones’. The ‘stepping stones’ offer a safe refuge in an urban area for wildlife such as birds, bees, butterflies, frogs and mammals to allow them hop, skip, fly and jump their way around our area.

Thanks so much to Morley Glass GreenVision Fund for supporting us to allow this to happen.

Morley Glass GreenVision Fund raises funds by crushing glass from end-of-life double glazed units in their glass crushing machine. The crushed glass is then sold to the plant to be made into new energy efficient glass, meaning less landfill and an extra pot of money to support small environmental projects across West Yorkshire. Not for profit organisations can apply for £500 for anything that improves the local environment.

The Nature Nurture Outdoor Sessions will run throughout the coming year, keep an eye out on the Better Start Bradford events calendar.
