Baby Week Bradford back for its fifth year!

Baby Week Bradford is back for its fifth year from 14-20 November 2022 with the theme – Bradford Babies TALKING.
This year’s theme is focusing on babies’ speech, language and communication development. Babies are amazing and are born communicating – every sound, cry, movement and gesture forms part of their early language development. Baby’s communication development begins before birth and with this in mind, the main aim of this year’s Baby Week Bradford is to get everyone talking about how important those early interactions with babies are.
There’s a great range of family events taking place across the district, including: outdoor storytelling, messy play, singing sessions, breastfeeding advice drop-ins and story and rhyme time events. The week also sees the launch of the Holding Time exhibition at Kala Sangam Arts Centre, a photography exhibition of breastfeeding portraits.
There are also events for the early years workforce, including ‘Littlest Neighbours’ – free outdoor activity training with Better Place Bradford – and a webinar showcasing the work of the Bradford Neonatal Unit exploring the benefits of reading from birth.
Also, anyone working with expectant families or families with young children is invited to join a free conference on Thursday 17 November at the Life Centre with keynote speaker, Baroness Floella Benjamin DBE, alongside local and national experts in early childhood development, including: The Fatherhood Institute, Brazelton Centre UK, BBC Tiny Happy People, and many local partners and organisations (booking required).

It’s so great to have a whole week dedicated to babies’ development and how we can all play a part in building more resilient and healthy humans. Throughout my life I’ve been committed to babies and children’s development and how those earliest years can influence them forever.
